cid_image001_png01CDCBDCMarketing Surveys – Seminar News- Conversion Cut Off – What’s New

Smallbiz Conversions end 31st October 2014

Over the last 18 months we have been asking for old Smallbiz CD’s to be returned to us in exchange for a new CD. These new Cd’s contain the new Smallbiz database which is a crucial Smallbiz update.

We have been converting users from one database to the other for free however free conversions will end on 31st October 2014. After this date a conversion fee of $95.00 will be applicable to all conversions.

If you are not sure if you have been converted please contact our support team on 1300130294.

Smallbiz Seminars

We would like to thank everyone who RSVP’d to our up and coming seminars. The Sydney seminar has gone ahead on Monday 29th September & Brisbane will be on Monday 13th October. Seminar places are still available for Brisbane for anyone who would like to attend. Please email your RSVP to belinda@smallbiz.net.au.

Unfortunately both Melbourne & Western Australia were cancelled due to insufficient numbers. We will organise future seminars in these states in 2015.

What’s New?

1. You can now email or print future appointment details booked for clients.

2. You can now nominate a wait staff column within the appointment book. This column will be excluded from SMS reminders.

3. If you change a clients name Smallbiz will now automatically adjust booked appointments with the name change.

4. New reports have been added to Smallbiz including Staff item report and No sales in period report.

To see a complete list of recent upgrades please click HERE.

freeadvantageclubimageSURVEYSSmallbiz is now offering custom marketing surveys. The surveys can be used as a tool in your marketing campaigns to collect customer feedback & suggestions.

The surveys will be designed & published online, you can then direct your clients to the link where they can complete the survey and the results will be emailed directly to you.

To show an example of how the surveys work we have created our very own survey that we would like all Smallbiz users to complete. The survey topic is all about business apps and whether having an app designed for your business is something you have considered. You can take the survey HERE.

For more information about getting your survey online please email belinda@smallbiz.net.au

Smallbiz Conversions

Some Smallbiz users are still running on our old database. We strongly recommend organising your system to be converted with support as soon as possible. Over the last two years we have been converting most systems at no cost, however this phase out period is coming to an end and there will be charges to convert once our new version has been released. If you are not sure if you have been converted please contact our support team on 1300 130 294.

Tax Scales Update

taxChanges to the 2014-2015 tax scales if approved will only apply to incomes over $180,000 per year. If you are in this category please call our support team as we would love to know your secret.

Smallbiz 64bit Upgrade

Smallbiz will shortly be releasing our new 64bit native version, as part of a major rewrite of the foundations of the Smallbiz program. Initially Smallbiz users will see a faster performing program but more importantly this major over haul will allow fantastic new features in Smallbiz to be possible over the coming months.

Email Bounces

1402384155_mail-1

Did you know that when you send an email campaign through our email marketing area that the email bounces are automatically recorded in Smallbiz? This means that you will not waste email credits sending campaigns to clients with an invalid or inactive email address and Smallbiz will prompt you next time they are in the salon for the email address to be updated.

Gift Voucher Maintenance Warning

The gift voucher maintenance area is a feature within Smallbiz that can be very useful. We have however recently had users use this feature lightly and wipe out large amounts or incorrect vouchers. Please use this feature very careful and when in doubt please contact our support team.

Automatic Backups

Are you certain that your backups are being done & saved correctly? If not then why not consider automatic backups. Your software can be programmed to automatically backup weekly or daily for just $9.90 or $19.80 per month respectively.

Remote Access – Web Bookings – Seminar Dates – Computer Upgrades

Log Me In Replaced

In early 2014 we received notice that Log Me In Free addition was no longer available. Having remote access is a crucial tool used in our support systems and we are happy to announce that the transition into our new remote access program called Screen Connect has been a smooth one. Clients who have spoken with support recently may have noticed this new program being used, for clients who have not been in touch with support recently, your connection will be setup on a case by case basis.

FOR CLIENTS WHO USE LOG ME IN FROM HOME

If you use Log Me In to access your salon computer from home you have the option of paying for the yearly license or you can swap to an alternate Free program such as Team Viewer.

New PC or Upgraded PC

Smallbiz reccomends replacing computer hardware every 4-5 years and there are plenty of excellent reasons why we make this suggestion.

We have recently had an influx of clients who have chosen to upgrade their PC rather than replace it which has caused many support issues. Please be aware that if you choose to upgrade your PC rather than replace it you do at your own risk.

“All technology has a set life cycle. Manufacturers call this life cycle MTBF, or mean time between failures.” (Brian Roach)

For more information about why we recommend replacing your hardware rather than upgrading it please visit our website.

Expressions of Interest

In 2013 the suggestion was made about running a seminar on the same weekend as the trade show events? We think this is a great idea as a good percentage of our clients travel to Sydney for these events.

The Hair Expo is on from the 7-9 June and we are now taking expressions of interest from Advantage Club members who would be interested in attending.

Could you please email sales@smallbiz.net.au to register your interest and what day & time would be most suitable.

Seminar dates for other states will be announced later on in the year.

End of the Road for Windows XP

After the 8th April, Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP, and there will be no more patches or updates. Without support, after 8th April Windows XP will become more vulnerable and it may potentially become an even greater target for hackers. If your business hasn’t upgraded to a newer version of Windows then now is the time.

Over the last few years Smallbiz has had procedures in place to convert Smallbiz users onto updated operating systems however if you are still using Windows XP we suggest calling our phone support team as soon as possible to discuss your options.
